Getting Ready for Your First Reformcore Class

Trying a new workout like Reformer Pilates can be exciting – and maybe a little intimidating, but it doesn’t have to be. Our goal is to make sure you come to your first Reformcore class feeling prepared, confident, and excited to try something new. Whether you’re looking to shake up your routine or take your fitness to the next level, we’re all about helping you build strength, improve flexibility, and leave feeling amazing. 

Here’s everything you need to know to have a successful first class: 

What to Expect from Your First Reformcore Class 

Reformcore blends the precision of Pilates with a modern, full-body workout to deliver a challenging (but very doable!) session. It’s a unique workout curated for power, strength, and core fitness. Our small class sizes mean you’ll get plenty of one-on-one attention from your instructor, so even if you’re new to this, you’re in great hands. 

We’ll start by showing you around the studio and giving you a quick intro to the Reformer machine—your new best friend for building strength and toning muscles. You’ll focus on slow, controlled movements that engage your entire body, and we’ll be there to guide you through proper form and technique. 

Don’t worry if it feels a little unfamiliar at first; that’s normal! While challenging, our classes are dynamic and can be adapted for different experience levels. Your instructor will offer adaptations and adjustments throughout class as needed. With each class, you’ll feel more comfortable, stronger, and ready to push yourself further. 

Familiarising Yourself with the Reformer 

If the Reformer machine looks a little intimidating, don’t stress—it’s easier to use than it looks! The Reformer is a versatile piece of equipment with adjustable springs that add resistance to help you build endurance, strength, and stability. 

Before class, your instructor will show you how to adjust the machine to fit your body and explain how the different parts work. During the class, we’ll guide you through each exercise, helping you focus on alignment and movement. 

If you’re unsure about anything, just ask. We love questions, and our team is more than happy to help! The more you understand the Reformer, the better your workout will be. 

Preparing Your Body for Class 

A little prep can make a big difference in how you feel during and after your first class. Here’s how to get ready: 

  • Wear the Right Gear: Choose form-fitting clothes that let you move easily—think leggings or shorts and a fitted top. Grip socks are a must for stability on the Reformer. Need grip socks? You can grab a pair in-studio before class. 
  • Hydrate: Drink plenty of water before and after class to keep your body fuelled and energized. 
  • Eat Smart: Have a light snack or meal 1–2 hours before class. A mix of protein and complex carbs is perfect for sustained energy. 

Plan to arrive 10–15 minutes early before class so you can settle in, meet your instructor, and get a tour of the studio before class starts. 

Embracing the Reformcore Experience 

The hardest part is showing up—and you’ve already done that by booking your first class. Reformcore is designed to challenge you in new ways, but it’s also about progress at your own pace. There’s no pressure to get everything perfect right away. 

Our instructors are here to support you, guide you, and celebrate your wins, no matter how small. After your first class, you might feel muscles you didn’t know existed, but that’s part of the fun! Over time, you’ll notice improvements in your posture, strength, and overall fitness. So, take a deep breath, enjoy the process, and be proud of yourself for trying something new.
